Black Lives Matter - George Floyd

On May 29th, 2020 I went into the heart of downtown Houston to capture the Black Lives Matter protests. These protests came about shortly after the unjust killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and a multitude of other black men and women due to police brutality.

A police cruiser sits near an intersection, battered and out of commission from the damage taken by protestors. Moments after the cruiser had been destroyed, large groups of protestors and police officers surrounded the area, making it the main area of conflict for both parties.

A clash between protestors and police officers, instigated by both sides. Protestors immediately throw both hands into the air as the crowd shouts “DONT SHOOT!” over and over again. The shoving match doesn’t last very long, and accomplishes nothing.
